Image
Olatunji .S. Tolulope The New Breed Network led by an Ex- President of Obafemi Awolowo University's students' union, Idowu Olanrewaju (Oladiamond), organised a leadership conference on Friday.  The conference held at the Oduduwa Hall of the University was tagged 'Get a head start' with invited coaches and motivational speakers in attendance. In the welcome address of the former unionist, he advised the participants to get a head start in life and engage in personal development projects without unhealthy competitions. “The first thing is to know yourself. No matter the situation we are different from each other. You can’t compare the work done of a Ferrari with that of Benz plying the roads of Lagos, it certain that Ferrari will break down before getting to its destination. Appreciate your individual differences and knowledge” he said “The mission of this conference is to grow and develop African role models. You cannot be a role model if you are not seen at the top, you...

SATIRE: 2019: The Year to Verify Nigerians' 'Madness'.

Image
Peter Oyebanji From Pleateau's killings to the incessant disastrous tanker incident then to being knocked out of world cup in a painful way coupled with the report that tickets that were meant for Super Eagles' Supporters were sold out to the Argentine and Icelandish fans by our own football federation, it's been a hellish couple of weeks for Nigerians. Commiserations to everyone that has been affected by these perils. 2019 is one year I'm exceedingly anticipating, because of so many fantasized events. From Game of Thrones to the upcoming elections as well as how I want to see Mancheter United win the trophy that I'm already seeing at "the theatre of dreams." One other thing I'm overly anticipating is to test the veracity of the word "we are mad in this country." The humorous word "we are mad in this country" is one that we've shown the reality. The word is overused on social medias, one-on-one communication, group chats, et al....

Education should be the first focal point.- Dickson speaks on restructuring.

Image
Dansabe Kuni Just like the recent trends of comments on restructuring in Nigeria, the Bayelsa state Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson,  highlighted that the Education system should be the first sector to be restructured. "Before any form of restructuring, the first sector to be touched is Education, being a paramount one." He said that the Bayelsa state government , under his administration took to education seriously. And as a result , free education programmes are currently on in various parts of the state. Speaking as the guest lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University's Faculty of Arts on the theme: "Restructuring and the Search for a Productive Nigeria",  he stated that the Federal Government has failed to prioritise her needs.  "Our system has failed based on the wrong priorities preoccupying the system. And the human resources is the key resources of any intending country that want to develop and so, should be be handle appropriately" he recommended....

Opinion: #EKITI_ELECTION: Deployment Of 30,000 Police Personnel: A Misplaced Priority.

Image
Oladeji Olaniyan In a country where thoughtless killings of  innocent citizens, loss of loved ones and properties, loss of means of lively hood and loss of place for respite is becoming the order of the day and yet the government at their best could do close to nothing to avert these evil occurrence but deemed it necessary to deploy mass Armed Forces for an election.  If the government could be placing more value on attaining a political office ahead of safeguarding lives of their citizens, I ponder who they intend to rule when they get there. Probably to rule the blood of those citizens. I couldn't envisage a country battered by incessant killings of her citizens and close to nothing was done to quell the atrocities or bring the culprits and perpetrators to book, but the same government adjudged it necessary to deploy 30000 police personnel for the sake of an election. Winning an election at all is seemingly pivotal to the government than protection of lives and properties of...
