DSA permits Fajuyi hall residents to stay as renovation continues.

Peter Oyebanji The Division of Students' Affairs (DSA) of Obafemi Awolowo University has told the resident of Fajuyi hall that they can stay but make sure not to disrupt the renovation process.  This was after the Porters of the hall announced to the students that they should vacate their various rooms for proper renovation. The Dean of Students' Affairs, Professor Isiaka Aransi on his visit to Adekunle Fajuyi Hall of Residence made this known on Tuesday evening. It should be recalled that this news outfit reported the official release by the division stating that students should vacate halls of residence so that renovation can begin.  The renovation has started with felling of trees and painting of blocks. A correspondent of this news agency gathered that the porters announced that the students should make way for the workers for proper renovation before the dean's visit. RENOVATION: OAU fells trees to construct fences around hostel.

In a bid to ensure the renovation of dilapidated hostel facilities, the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University has begun to cut trees around the halls of residence to aid the construction of fences. Cutting of trees ongoing in Adekunle Fajuyi hall. As confirmed by this media outfit, some trees along Akintola hostel walk way and New bukka area of the university are being chain-sawed. OAU KILONSHELE reported how the management of the institution, on Wednesday, ordered the students out of the halls of residence in order to continue the renovation that has been embarked upon since the end of last session. OAU orders students out of hostels, reaffirms resumption date.

Peter Oyebanji The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has ordered the students out of the halls of residence in order to continue the renovation that has been embarked upon since the end of last session. In February, OAU KILONSHELE reported the plans of the university to renovate the halls of residence after an exclusive report on the poor state of Eight undergraduate hostels. The school authorities gave three male hostels; Awolowo hall, Education Trust Fund (ETF) hall, Angola hall and two female hostels; Mozambique hall, Alumni hostel, a face-lift before the resumption day in May. OAU KILONSHELE gathered that hostels like Fajuyi hall, Moremi hall and Akintola hall are yet to be renovated. Former OAU students’ president accused of acting on behalf of suspended union

Alfred Olufemi         A former president of Obafemi Awolowo University Students' union, Edward Ibukun, has been accused of acting, including seeking financial support, on behalf of the union, which has been suspended. In a 6 June 2018 letter exclusively obtained by CAMPUS REPORTER, the former president appeared to request an appointment with the chief executive officer of Optiweb Communications Ltd., Tim Adeleye, for ‘courtesy visit and interactive session’. “The courtesy visit and interactive session shall be for 2 hours between 10 am and 12 pm, as we understand that you have plans for the other day,” stated the letter. A source within the firm confirmed the receipt of the letter. “We had to cancel the request when we investigated and got to know that the person who sent the letter was a suspended union leader.” added the source. OAU students battle mental challenges during examination period.

Alfred Olufemi Lunatic displays have been the subject of the discussions among the students of Obafemi Awolowo University since the second semester examinations commenced. OAU KILONSHELE confirmed that over 6 different cases of students of the institution have either gone gaga while preparing for examinations in lecture theatres or while writing the examinations. Okeya Sunday, a 300 level student, who witnessed one of the scenes, narrated how a young lady started shouting "women are better than men" and laughing hysterically at Oduduwa lecture theatre of the school. Mr. Okeya said the lady had already packed stones inside her clothes before the intervention of the school's security team. " I was shocked because this is like the third case in just two weeks."
