Short Story: My fancy life.

Image
Owolabi Oluwaseun Destiny knocked on my door with flowers in his hands and a grin I recognised almost immediately. I was afraid he was gonna pop the question but I looked around. .No escape route this time but then, I see no fancy restaurant, it's just my house(my big house), I smiled steeply and invited him in. Destiny gets me even more than I get myself but then, do I want a Destiny in my life forever? Momma called me last night to tell me about Leah who is getting married the next month, well I'm not bothered. I got my fav Bible quote in my head-Phil 4:19, it always got me covered but then Isaiah 4:1 pops up . . I shrugged it off. Money can't buy happiness but it's better crying in a mansion than a hut and luckily I am crying in one and I got my black fast rides, I call 'em my babies . And again it's better being married to a Destiny than none. . . RIGHT!?!?       Shaun gave me a ring last week. . I think I must have said yes to his proposal, he's a smart...

Sports and its role in breaking barriers.

Image
Adeyemi Onikepo Sports in its simplest of forms is best described as an activity that uses physical exertion or skill in a competitive manner. This definition is good, but it doesn’t justify what sport truly means, for me, sports is a breaker of chains and an avenue for any man to freely express themself without the fear of political, social and any other form of human grading hindering their performance or greatness. In the days of early sports, whatever the event, sports has never failed in uniting the people. From the time before the Romans and their amphitheatres or the Greek domes, people were united for the love of physical entertainment, you would say it was violent then but I would say violence is an animal’s way of expressing fear and power.  Sports has very much evolved and so has its ability to free man from all pressure and limitations. People who have failed in academics or music or any other form of human intellectual or physical performance, would always have a sport...

Mr. Durotoye made this known at an annual  leadership and entrepreneurs' conference organised by the students of the department of Economics, Obafemi Awolowo University, on Wednesday. This is coming at a time when university lecturers are clamouring for proper funding of Nigerian universities and have shut down academic activities in various schools. (Opinion) The hypocritical arrest and trial of the Shiites members.

Image
Oladeji Olaniyan The old scuffle between the Nigerian security apparatus and members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria (IMN) which led to the arrest of their national leader, Ibrabim El-Zakzaky resurfaced last week Monday 29th of October in the country's capital, Abuja.  The leaders of this sect was apprehended and detained illegally and the federal government remains adamant to comply with several court rulings for the release of the sect leader. This unrepentant and unconstitutional act of the Federal government of refusing to release the leader of the sect has prompted myriads of protest by the followers or members of this movement. Their protest, has in no point in time void of  blood shedding, they are not involved in killing themselves nor others but the lifeless Nigerian security operatives have consistently turned this sect to an instrument of training on shooting. Though, recently, this has become the usual means employed by our security apparatus to respond to citiz...
